Wedding Solution #1 - Long Distance Planning
I am always excited when a couple schedules their initial meeting with me. I look forward to meeting the couple, learning about them and what their dreams are for their wedding. One of the more unique calls I received was from a couple in the Marines based in North Carolina, who wanted to get married in the bride's home state of New Jersey. The catch? They only had three days in New Jersey before going to serve in Iraq for their entire engagement period! With a lot of pre-planning, we met, interviewed and hired all of their major wedding professionals during their three days in New Jersey. All of the remaining details took place over the Internet - I was always amazed at how quickly emails were returned, usually just as quickly as my state-side clients! Their wedding took place on a gorgeous April day, and all of our hard work paid off - the bride said her "dream wedding became a reality!"
Wedding Solution #2 - Saving (A Lot of) Money
Once a client decides upon a time of year and style for their wedding, the first item on the agenda is to find a venue for the celebration. One of my clients knew that they wanted to get married in a church and then have their reception at a unique location. Prior to their hiring me, however, they had looked at a yacht and were very interested in having their reception onboard, but the price they were quoted was out of their budget. They didn't tell me about this, and we began looking for their perfect reception location. We looked at various museums, mansions and other different locations for their reception, but nothing really grabbed them. I then suggested that we look into having their reception on a yacht, and set up an appointment with one of my vendors. They were shocked to get a tour on the very same yacht they had visited before they hired me - and the price quoted was much less than they had originally been told by another company! Needless to say, they booked the yacht for their reception and enjoyed changing views of the Manhattan skyline all evening long!
Wedding Solution #3 - Creating a Beautiful Swan
Recently, a client booked a venue based upon its location and size, but the room for the reception was extremely plain. There were no windows in the room, and the décor was rather nondescript. During the course of our planning, we hired a floral designer and a lighting company to transform the ugly duckling of a room into a beautiful swan. We decided to turn off all of the overhead lights and let the lighting company provide lighting, complimented by huge candelabras with over 40 candles per table. We also brought in specialty linens for the tables with color-coordinated Chivari chairs. To create even more drama, we created a "tent" around the sweetheart table and set up a similar "lounge tent" filled with sofas across the room. In the end, the room looked magical and had a distinct South Beach Miami vibe. After the reception, when the room was being broken down (as we say in the business) - the house lights were up all the way while the candles were blown out and the lighting company was dismantling the wiring - guests returned to pick up an item they had left behind. They walked into the room in which they had just spent 5 hours eating, drinking and dancing, and were so disoriented by the room's appearance that they had to ask if they were in the right place!
